Calverton

Our walk in Calverton is being created with pupils of the Sir John Sherbrooke junior school as we think it’s very important that at least one of these walks concentrates on the experiences and perspectives of younger people.

Pupils of the Sir John Sherbooke Junior School

We’ve decided on the route that will take in streets where new housing is being built, a path alongside a brook (passing a pond full of enormous carp), the lovely Carrington Lane and skirting through Oxton Woods.

On the way pupils will share their thoughts on school games, transport of the future, why they like where they live, what they imagine it would be like to work on a farm, trees (‘what are they?’), and how they think their village will look in the future. They also interview three residents with fascinating memories and stories to share.

We’re currently editing together a huge amount of material (having worked with around 90 pupils) and are confident that this will be a really intriguing walk that gives a real insight into the experiences and imagination of those aged 7-9.
